A Deck Review

I bought the Sea Soul Journeys Oracle Cards last year after watching a Sarah Louise Tilsley last year. I fell in love with them. Then I received the deck, and I could not connect with it. I tried and tried. I eventually gave up and put it on the shelf. Let’s fast forward to almost exactly a year…

I really only picked up this deck again after seeing Temperance Witch Way’s post using it in a spread. I asked her about how she connected with because I had been struggling. She gave me a few ideas, and I also incorporated my own current path’s themes.

If you’ve been following along, I have been rededicating myself to the path of water this summer. I have been making hydrosols weekly as a way for me to connect my love of earth and water. I have also begun incorporating this deck into my daily practice.

Instead of just drawing cards all willy-nilly from this deck, I am being very intentional (just like I wanted for this Jupiter in Taurus transit) about asking “What message does water have for me today?” This has completely changed my connection with this deck.

I have been pulling cards each day, and the messages are usually lining up with either my tarot messages of the day or my prayer journal entry. Let me know if you would be interested in hearing about my prayer/petition journal.

As I continue to work my way through Water Witchcraft, I am really loving connecting with this deck as it is leading me closer to water and the different aspects of water. I also love that the deck has affirmations.

It can feel easy to give up on a deck and get rid of it. I think this has taught me to give decks time. I was so pulled to the energy of this deck as someone else used it. I knew I wanted it. I bought it immediately (like that same night). I didn’t make a mistake. I just bought it before I knew what to do with the messages and energies. Trust your intuition when you feel that tug. If it’s not working, try again later. Sometimes that later is an entire year.

I actually donated 4 decks earlier this year because I had fallen out of alignment with them or after years and years had never really connected with.
