Thank u for sharing your perspective on this card! It makes so much sense to apply it to disabilities and our own limitations. I always thought of it as a “discernment” card, and making good choices, this adds an extra thoughtful layer. I also struggle with chronic pain and illness so I understand how frustrating it can be at times. I’m a teacher and I often feel bad because I just don’t have the same energy as my peers, there’s this guilt that I’m just not staying late enough, not volunteering enough, but also I burn out so much easier and I need to have strong boundaries just so I can do the day to day. It’s always hard to explain to others too, they aren’t always understanding because I “look young”. I also keep my mask on a lot and that also bothers some people 😑 but anyway, here’s to doing what’s best for yourself, it’s so important to protect your energy and health!

I am also a teacher! Aaaaaand now I’m not working partly because I burned out so hard. Hold on to your boundaries. Forget those who guilt. You take care of you. You’re doing your best, and you’re doing what you get paid to do. That’s all anyone can truly ask.

I get the “you’re too young for Xyz, abc” ALLLLLLL the time. I’ve been getting that since I was 11 and dealing with hot flashes before I’d even hit puberty. TRULY such an unhelpful thing to tell someone. I’m going to start responding with “you’re more than welcome to switch bodies with me.”

Keep doing you and keeping yourself healthy and functional. May your weekend be restful 💜💜💜

Ahhh! Fellow educator ❤️ 🤗 imma have to start saying “ok you’re more than welcome to switch bodies”… sometimes when people say “you’re to young for xyz” I feel like saying okay, tell that to 7 year old me when these symptoms started 🤷🏻‍♀️

And they would have too! They would have absolutely told you at 7 you’re too young for whatever it was you were experiencing. When I was around that age (I think I was 8), my cousin karate kicked me into our metal bunk bed frame, and I severely injured my ribs. I couldn’t run or do PE with any ease for the rest of the year. I kept telling them why and what happened, and I was just labeled and chunky and lazy. I think I got check minuses that year in PE for not putting in effort. So yeah. These people would age absolutely told you at age 7 you were too young to be experiencing pain. people suck 🫠🫠🫠 I hope this weekend and next week are low pain and low stress for you 💜
