This year, I purchased the 2023 Creativity Journal from
. It was such an honor to be able to do this and work through the lens of someone I admire so deeply. I started the year off strong with some of the pages, but it took until October for me to finally get devoted to the weekly pages and to start using some of the more abstract pages. I am really, really excited to finally (after 10 months) to have a better routine with this journal. It seems late, but these routines are helping me prepare for the 2024 Creativity Journal!I have written before about rigidity within my routines, practices, and surrounding what is acceptable in my mind surrounding my own creativity. I feel like October was the month where I released a lot of rigidity and literal thinking around the pages that lie within the Creativity Journal.
One page that I consistently left blank over the year was the Psychic Observations page. In October, something finally clicked, and I started to see it as the synchronicities page. The book Walking With Persephone is one that I have been reading sine the end of September. I read it when I sit outside on my balcony. There the messages seem to resonate most deeply. I found that the messages from the book and the feelings I was experiencing, the happenings in the bird world around me, etc. coincided with the book. I began to write them down as synchronicities. I also connected my Virgo Lunar Cycle oracle messages to the book as well. Spider and Ivy came up a lot for me within the book. I finally began to write all of these things down, and it has been really nice to refer back to what I’ve been seeing and noticing.
By being less rigid about what goes on that page, I also felt free to add stickers and washi tape. This was nice as I began to run out of room for long explanations. Something that I do enjoy doing in all of my journals is taping in postcards and writing on those for extra space.
One thing that I love about this journal is that while there are prompts, there are also empty pages and spaces on which to just do what you need to do. I used the empty page next to “Open the Door to Curiosity” to write down these prayers from Walking With Persephone. This is another place where I dropped the rigidity and wrote what was important to me in the moment.
Having ADHD can sometimes mean that I need a lot of structure in order to function (I need SO MUCH STRUCTURE… send help), but it can also mean that given that structure I become so rule-driven and obsessive that I stifle myself because “it’s not right.” This is a creativity journal that is meant to be used however I need it to be used. That is something I’ve reminded myself of all year. It took 10 months to believe it.
I love
’s take on her creativity journal. You can read about it here. I also adore watching her YouTube videos on it because it reminds me to be looser, to be more flexible, to be less literal and more abstract. I don’t always meld well with the abstract. All of these things remind me that it is ok to do what I want, and there is no one policing me nor is there one right way to journal. All year I had been using a different notebook for Substack ideas. How silly when I literally have an entire page every month to fill within this journal. Anything I don’t finish in a given month, like a traditional bujo, gets moved to the next month if it is something I want to pursue. Again, new routines take a while for me to build, and I am so happy to have finally gotten the hang of this one. I can’t tell you how ecstatic I am to receive and use the 2024 Creativity Journal.
I don’t have a photo of my weeklies as they are quite personal with a lot of name drops, etc. But what I have been doing with my weeklies for the last 6 weeks is naming something that I am doing for me each day. I am tracking how my mental health is based on how I take care of myself. It has been helping. It has been keeping my accountable. I am excited to use the new weeklies layout.
I have always been really good about doing the monthly divination spreads because hello! It’s me, haha. These pages are where most of my creativity has fallen throughout the year. The new journal will still have the Communing with the Muse spreadThe new part is that it will also contain 12 spreads that I wrote for each zodiac season. Again, I am just so excited to get my hands on this journal and really devote myself to it and see what can be created and maintained in 2024.
Journaling used to be a spell for me. I put so much of my energy for manifestation into journaling and intention through stationary. I have fallen hard off that bandwagon, but as I flipped through old journals the other day, I was reminded of how powerful a journal can be. I am thrilled to make the 2024 Creativity Journal a sacred space for magic and love and creation. Thank you to
for creating this, putting it out into the world, and letting me collaborate with you!Drop your journaling intentions for 2024 down below. What journals are you sticking by? Which are you wanting to try? We’re a journaling community here. Share your faves!

This made my morning! I'm so glad to know something I made is a part of your practice! I'm excited for the learnings that will happen through the 2024 journal! Thank you for sharing how you've incorporated the journal in your practice. And I'm glad the psychic observations page has been helpful. How you use that page is how I use it also!
