I was so excited to start my reading journal this year! I started off strong in December, and then April hit, and I was just no longer interested. I have been trying to catch myself up ever since.
The header this time is from an old journal when I was just doing random book spreads rather than having a reading journal. It is for the book The Once and Future Goddess. I have flipped through that journal, and I used to be a lot less formulated and algorithmic with my book spreads. I definitely want to get back to that. Right now, I am stuck in a rut and have been for months.
That being said, I wanted to share some of my most favorite spreads with you!
My first set of favorites come from the Renegades Trilogy by Marissa Meyer. I ended up loving this series a lot more than I thought I would. The narration really helped with that. As an author, I’ve found that Marissa Meyer can get pretty rambly and drag out scenes for much longer than I’d like. This series had a nice clip.
My favorite of these three spreads is Supernova, the last book in the series. I used some gelly prints that
sent to me to make the buildings, and it went way off from my normal routine/formula.The books in this series are:
This set of books are by Black authors. I have been trying to be much more intentional about the authors I am reading and the voices I am learning from.
The spreads are for
Kindred by Octavia E. Butler
communion by bell hooks
Are Prisons Obsolete? by Angela Y. Davis
Here we have some miscellaneous fiction. I have really fallen in love with Mia P. Manansala’s writing style and T.J. Klune! I was already in love with Nnedi Okorafor.
From top to bottom:
The House By the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune (I definitely recommend the audiobook)
Binti by Nnedi Okorafor
Arsenic and Adobo by Mia P. Manansala
Finally, my last favorite spread. I just lost how it turned out. The book was The Way of the Rose.
Mochi Bujo is my favorite reading journal and bullet journal creator. I definitely recommend checking checking out her YouTube. I gather a lot of inspo from her. One thing that I have noticed about my favorite spreads is that most of the include the artwork of
.What are you reading right now?
Wishing you well this week! May your life offer what you need in this moment.
With love,

I love your reading spreads! I'm glad the gel prints were used here, I haven't gel printed as much as I'd like lately. I have tried to do a reading journal but haven't been consistent, usually I'll write a few sentences of key takeaways from books I finish, more in bullet point format though. I think keeping a reading journal is a really good way to remember what books have shaped and influenced our views and life experience.
