Monsteras have always been admirable plants, but in 2020 when the world went into lockdown, their popularity skyrocketed! They were sold out. People were paying upwards of $400 for them, obvs using those stimmy checks. While I admired from afar, having a monstera was nothing I ever expected to have. Now, however, we have one, and it is a large, well-established plant. It was gifted to my partner from his elderly neighbor.
If you were on Threads on Saturday, you may have seen that both Portland and Oregon were trending due to some pretty severe thunderstorms. In fact, we lost power for a few hours that evening. The winds were strong enough during that storm to knock our monstera over. When my partner got home from dropping me off and picking up our monstera (we need to name her), he texted and said that I needed to look at the rocks that fell out of it… I asked if they were rocks or crystals. He said rocks. I promptly forgot about them because I thought they might be some gardening quartzite or something. Sunday, after I got home, he brought them up to show me. Y’all peep what came out of the monstera…

Yes, crystals. There are 2 quartz points, 3 citrines, 1 green fluorite, 1 lapis lazuli, 4 black tourmaline, an amethyst, a couple calcite or quartz chunks (can’t tell), and what I am pretty sure is a raw amazonite with smokey quartz. There are also muzquiz fluorite?!?! I think?! I don’t know for sure, but they SURE look like it.
Y’all, these just fell out of her soil, lying on the ground. WILD! What in the what?! There were other rocks that came out, but I got wildly uncomfortable about keeping them all so we offered her back a few just to help keep the balance.
These crystals are staying separate from my vast collection, and instead they will live here on the family hearth. I can’t wait to share that love letter with you! The family hearth has been such an experience.
I think the wildest part about all of this is not just the abundance that fell forth from this plant of abundance (!), but about 3 days before this happened, I was watching a video from Cosmic Kin, and he was very adamant about burying crystals in the soil. I was already planning on doing that for the dark moon, but now I know exactly where to bury them, and I was given this sign from crystals that had already been buried. How neat!
I am still in limbo about whether or not to have these stunning pieces in the house, but because they came out “naturally,” and we didn’t dig them up, I feel better about having them in here than otherwise. I don’t know!
What do you think? Should I keep them in here, or should I return them to the monstera and whatever little fae folk that might be living within?
Wishing you well this week! May your life offer what you need in this moment.
With love,
Aventurine ✨
That is amazing! That was a sign that the plant belongs to you now. I would personally bury them back but go with what you feel 💜
