It’s that time for the collective full moon readings! I offer them monthly for free over on Sassyverse Pod and The Oracle Portal on IG. Between 10 and 12 people sign up each month. This full moon we got 3 new people, welcome! If you’re ever interested in the free readings, keep your eyes peeled on IG!
For this Full Moon in Pisces, we had a serious stalker card. Usually, we will see a few cards pop up in a couple of readings, but this card popped up in 4 readings and flashed through multiple times while shuffling.
I think it is very telling that the 5 of pentacles came out for a third of the readings, and it showed in almost half of them. We are in a time of deep despair. Inflation is killing us, starving us, making housing even less stable, and it is causing many to feel isolated and alone.
If you are feeling these things, you are not alone. If you are in the PDX area, please reach out. I can help you find resources. If you are outside of this area, I am happy to do research with you, but I know how restrictive areas outside of mine can be. For instance, in Maine, you can only access food banks with an ID and within the bounds of their choosing. Here in Oregon, you can just give your name, how many people are in your household (it doesn’t matter the number), and your zip code. We need to make food significantly more accessible. Food justice is something that I can talk about and listen to without stop. Food is vital.
I think another important part about the five of pentacles is the grief that comes along with poverty, isolation, and hardship in general. Many of us have grown up with the trauma of poverty. We know how isolating it is. We know how different it makes us. We know how we stand out when everyone else is doing things, wearing things, or eating things that would never be an option in our homes, family, etc.
I think collectively right now though? There are many who did not grow up with that reality, and they’re having to learn about it as adults, and it is hitting them hard. People aren’t knowing what to do or where to turn. That isolation, ostracism, and grief are beginning to tear people up inside, and we’re seeing them either explode or implode.
When I think of the five of pentacles, I think deeply about the cards that surround it. The four of pentacles is about financial stability, but with the undertones (overtones?) of hoarding resources and goods.
These (dare I say white?) people who grew up middle class, upper-middle class, etc. are learning that sometimes even the biggest precautions can’t save you from systemic hardships, systemic violence. Hoarding and saving and being smart can only take you so far when the powers that be (billionaires) want you to fail and want their pockets lined.
If the four of pentacles in this world is leading to the five, then what comes next?
After the five comes help. The six of pentacles is seen as the charity card. Charities aren’t necessarily the best way to fix things. Mutual Aid is definitely a more sustainable and ethical way (when done correctly) to do this. I read Mutual Aid by Dean Spade this year and definitely recommend it. You will learn about the difference between charity and mutual aid. So with that in mind, let’s reframe the six not as charity but instead mutual aid and the care of community.
What happens next is community care. We begin to reach out. We begin to ask for help, or we begin to accept help. If we are in a place of more privilege, then we can offer that help. Community is a two way street. Looking to it only to take rather than reciprocate what you are able (seriously, it can be a smile and a well wish if that’s truly all you have to offer and give) will only serve to hurt you and the community. Look to community as a familial extension. Foster it with love and care.
In these trying, trying times, we need to be looking out for each other and getting away from the isolationist, individualist viewpoint that White Supremacy has forced upon us. Instead, we need to look, listen, and learn from collectivist communities, societies, and histories. White folks, we are not here to co-opt. We are here to learn, listen, and grow.
Resources in the PDX area that I can think of are as follows. Please donate or access them as you need.
If you have resources for your area, please leave them in the comments so others can see. The first part of receiving aid is knowing what is available and how to access it.
I want to leave you with the affirmation that is found with this card in The Spirit of Herbs, “I see the richness in my spirit and acknowledge my inner values.”
Wishing you well this week! May your life offer what you need in this moment.
With love,
Aventurine ✨
