Does The Tower Always Need To Be Bad?

As y’all know, I have been going through some pretty major changes. The latest of which has been adopting the kittens. These little guys have been the catalyst for another major change in my life. It will either be the end of a decade of love and companionship, or it will be moving back in together and trying cohabitation again. Either way, it is going to be a Tower moment.

As I am doing my trial run this summer of cohabitating, I can’t help but think about The Tower. The Tower came up quite a few times in the free readings I did for people for the full moon. (You can always sign up around the full moon. They are standing free readings.) The constant appearance of The Tower really drove home for me that The Tower doesn’t need to me negative. We just need to breathe and move through it rather than trying to swim against the current.

While change can be incredibly scary and uncomfortable, it doesn’t have to be bad. I think that’s what is really reigning true for me right now. Change, with whatever choice I make, is going to be hard, scary, and uncomfortable, but it doesn’t need to be bad. Change leads to new opportunities, new doors. My fear laden brain always says that change leads to badness, but I think that’s because the process of changing can be so difficult.

Does that ever happen to you? Where you get stuck in the feeling of the process rather than remembering the feeling of the result at the end? I literally have none of my degrees framed or hung up because I hated the process of getting them so much. I have 3 degrees, and they are all sitting on timeout. Why? I did that. I went through that hard work and overcame the challenges, and they were change that led to new opportunities, but I despise being a student, being in school, doing the entire process to get a stupid piece of paper. I feel like, that’s my brain’s reaction to everything: the process sucks, therefore the end result doesn’t matter.

I want to rework this. I want to change that fixed mindset to a growth mindset. If you struggle with the more fixed mindset of growing up in the 90s and early 2000s (or before), let’s work on this together. Progress over perfection. Trying and failing over staying stagnant. Loving and falling over hating and staying upright. There is room to grow, ways to work through the fear and discomfort.

The Tower isn’t everything bad, no matter how it is traditionally read. Instead, it is a fundamental change, a change in foundation, a change from instability to stability, a change from self sabotage to self appreciation, whatever deep wounds that need to be changed will come from your tower moment.

The Tower is Mars energy on top of it. It is moments of fiery, intense emotion, which is often the catalyst for the changes that we need or want to make in life. I have been connecting far more with Mars energy lately than I normally do. Mars is a very masculine energy, and I am sure y’all have noticed that I lean deeply into that more feminine aspect of self and spirituality. I think change, these major changes, require a more masculine aspect of ourselves, the aspects of planning, emotional disengagement, taking action rather than the attraction of the feminine, there is a more active role in decision making and taking action.

As someone who is very dependent on routine and ritual, I find change especially difficult. I haven’t done my daily tarot practice in 11 days at this point, and I don’t know when I will get back to it because my daily life is no longer routined like it has been. I am sure this shake up in routine is also going to lead to a newer foundation, but it also has me feeling ungrounded and unguided. I miss my cards, my goddesses, my rosary practice. I will get back to it, but this is part of the shake up of The Tower, of Mars, of Change.
