Candle Magic

Lion’s Gate is not really anything that I have ever partaken in. I understand the controversy around it. I understand the white capitalistic spiritualist mentality behind it. In the astrology community, I have been hearing a lot of “Lion’s Gate is not real. Anyone saying otherwise is selling you something.” I hear it, and I understand that this is because of the completely made up history of it being attached to ancient Egyptian and/or ancient Mayan cultures. The day was made up by some white dude. Got it.

Why am I telling you this? Well, I had an important meeting on 8/8 this year. I figured that while a bunch of people were pouring their energy into this day and focusing hard on good intentions, luck, and manifestation that it would be a good time to tap into that collective goodness for the sake of my meeting. Again, this was my first time ever interacting with Lion’s Gate anything. The energy within my spell was big and almost out of control. So maybe we can all come together and put that energy into housing and medical care for people?

My spell was an intention, a hope, a dream of changing my path and manifesting a life with less stress, fewer triggers, and a calmer nervous system. In order for me to obtain these health and lifestyle changes, I need to move my sources of abundance in a new direction.

I created my spell with this intent, and I used the following ingredients:

• White Candle: Amplification of Intent

• Green Candle: Good Luck, Abundance

• Yellow Candle: Communication Skills, Joy

• Thyme: Good Luck, Good First Impressions

• Oregano: Amplification of Intent

• Cayenne: Adding Speed and Energy

• Cinnamon Oil: Luck, Wealth, Abundance

• Carnelian: Manifestation, Passion, Fire Energy

• Pyrite: Abundance, Increased Energy

• Green Aventurine: Good Luck, Abundance

• Clear Quartz: Amplification

• Bay Leaf Match: Wishes Granted

I called on the goddesses I work with to help with the energy and clearing pathways for me.

I do not usually do spell work in this way, this very formal, more ritualistic way. I tend to do journaling spells, affirmations, collages. I think I have done a total of like 5 candle magic spells in the last 6 years. My expectation was that the candles would burn down, and that would be the end of it.

What actually ended up happening was the white candle burned hot and fast and began dripping. It burned so much more quickly than the others. I had to start looking up what all of the things meant. It was all very cookie cutter information. Left side drips mean that you are emotionally blocked, blah blah blah. Hot and fast means that it will work, but the success will be temporary. I did wonder though if the herbs and oil made it burn hotter and faster. No one ever mentioned that bit in their blogs.

Then the pooling started, and there was not a peep from anyone that I could find within articles and blogs about wax pooling. So here is my interpretation. Please let me know YOUR thoughts because I am new at this and could be very, very off track.

The way I saw the green candles begin to drip and pool was like a dam being broken, like a blockage (within or outside) had been removed, and suddenly everything that was wanting to flow was finally able to do so. I found it especially interesting because this did not happen with the yellow candles. My Jupiter is in Gemini, but it is a retrograde natal placement, and I feel like I have felt that blockage on luck and ease my entire life. Watching the green wax burst through as it did felt healing in a deep way.

It truly was like streams of abundance that converged to create a river. There was something within this spell that really shook some shit up. Again, I could be way off base. I obviously want that outcome so I am biased. If you know more about candle magic and wax formations, please let me know! I am dying to know.

From all accounts, this spell seems to have worked, and it seems like it will work quickly, but it may need a refresh sometime soon in the future. I will definitely need to be buying more candles. I also want to buy better candle stands. I just have the little disposable ones. I want some of the more durable ceramic chime candle holders.
